don't miss to check the bill....

Again, twice this week when I asked for the total of the food we ate, we were given the wrong amount. It was always way too high from the real amount we had to pay. There's this restaurant, we're regulars there and I always assumed we were given the right bills. This week however, I just felt like I wanted to double-check the total, so I asked the woman in charge that I would like to see the tab. Lo, and behold! The amount she gave was ten pesos more than what we were supposed to pay. Ha,ha...this is an old trick that these restaurants seem to pull on trusting customers who just pay the amount without question. Never, never allow this to happen to you again. I wonder how many times and how many of us had been robbed blind by these seemingly "innocent" mistakes that they make? I have busted about a dozen of these people, some of them using adding machines, some of them adding manually, there is no difference. Many of them are notorious in padding bills which are by themselves already exorbitant. It is time for us consumers to be more vigilant and stop these unscrupulous acts.

Tyra Banks on texting

The Tyra Banks show recently tackled an interesting issue called "Random Acts of Rudeness" and one of those acts considered as RUDE is texting a person so many times a day expecially when she or he is no longer responding. This incident happened to me and I totally agree with Tyra that we have no right to invade into a person's privacy even through texting. When someone did this to me, I even resorted to having everything recorded in the police blotter, showing all the messages, just in case. One can never be sure what's going on in the minds of people. Too many loonies around these days. There is no need to explain this but when a person receives foolish text messages from the same person many times a day, what do you expect the recipient to do? Be happy and say thank you? Texting someone countless of times a day even when he or she is not responding is a form of stalking.

putting this on record

I just have to rant about this crazy person who claims to be a batchmate of mine in grade school and who had never stopped texting at least a hundred times a day reminding me of the date of this particular batch meeting which I am no longer interested to attend after I had told this nut that I could not make it and still persisted in sending the same message several times a day. Of course, all the messages are ignored and trashed but still this creep does it everyday, reminding me that we were classmates in Grade school (like I care!). So what? I do not even have a teeny bit of recollection of this person's existence. The name does not ring a bell, and nothing ever comes to memory about this supposedly crazy batchmate. I was in Section 1 and our school had like, 10 sections at that time, the students' groupings were based on their IQs I think, and this weirdo must have belonged to Section 10 or Section 9! I do remember my real classmates, the most memorable ones at least, but this "buang", no, not even its shadow registers in my memory. So please, when the person does not respond to your texts, it is time to adjust the screws in your mind to make it finally understand that the other person is not interested and is actually annoyed to death by the same messages. It is time to move on with your life, you SOB!

"carabao" English in a call center?

Really? How true is this that some people working in one of the call centers in Dumaguete City, the first one ever in that city, speak "carabao" English? LOL. How can that happen? Aren't they supposed to screen out the candidates and only hire those who can at least speak the language of their clients not the "carabao" way? The rumor says that they are the very people tasked to initially screen out the applicants. So how will these people know what they are looking for if they themselves falter in the use of the language? Surely they are only bound to entertain those belonging to their region. There is no wonder then that they would most likely prefer to only give attention to applicants who fare worse than they so that at least there is good reason for them to be in that position. WTF!

"madir?" Just look at yourself, the nerve...

The word "madir" which some people use to address women who look mature or old is often used in a disrespectful way. Very often, people who call women "madir" feel confident that they are a lot younger than the "madir", so much younger in fact to be her son or daughter. But hey, whenever you call someone "madir", can you please take some time to reflect yourself in the mirror to see if you have the right to condescend or insult someone by calling her "madir". This pedicab driver just had too much confidence of his looks to address me as "madir" in the most condescending fashion. Huh? I looked him over and saw a disgusting fat, fortyish something ugly man who is the exact opposite of my 25-year-old son. So how can he, that obnoxious and disrespectful driver be a son of mine? The nerve! He's so black and ugly!

Sarah Geronimo in Dumaguete!

Sarah Geronimo is the next Nora Aunor! I do not mean to refer to their singing style but to their "masa" appeal. Sarah G., like Nora Aunor during her moment of glory, could quickly draw crowds wherever she goes. Screaming fans from all over the province lined up to watch the jampacked concert. The girl does have the same magnetism that La Aunor had. People just love her and it is so easy to see why. Aside from her powerfully beautiful voice, "the next one" can also entertain her fans with her dance skills and her sweet smile. Producers of her shows need not worry about selling the tickets because they would be automatically sold out before the show. Such is the charisma of Sarah.
